Keynote Speaker
Dr Enam is the Director of the AKU's Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research. He is a US Board-certified neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery. He previously served as the chair of the Department of Surgery at the Aga Khan University, Karachi. With a PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University and over 300 manuscripts, he is actively involved in clinical and basic science research in cellular and molecular neuroscience and neuro-oncology. Dr Enam is also the Founding President of the Pakistan Society of Basic and Applied Neuroscience, Pakistan Society of Neuro-Oncology and a member of the executive committee of the leading brain tumour consortium of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Based on his contributions to medicine and research, he has been awarded several accolades including Sitara-e-Imtiaz, the third-highest civilian award by the Government of Pakistan.

Saleem Islam, M.D., M.P.H. is a Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He served as Chief of Pediatric Surgery (2015–2022) and was Program Director of the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship (2009–2019). A graduate of Aga Khan University, Dr. Islam completed his surgical training at the University of Massachusetts, with further fellowship training at Harvard/Mass General and the University of Michigan. He joined UF in 2007 and has held key clinical and academic leadership roles. Dr. Islam is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of leading surgical societies including the American Surgical Association. He has authored over 160 peer-reviewed publications and delivered 200+ national and international presentations. His research interests include pediatric gastroparesis, health equity, and outcomes-based pediatric surgical care.

Dr Karim Damji is Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (OVS) at the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. He was Chair of OVS at the University of Alberta from 2014-21. He was former fellowships director at OVS, Univ. of Alberta and residency program director at Univ.

Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed is a visionary strategist, entrepreneur and a physician leader who specializes in developing sustainable, scalable and innovative solutions in Healthcare through information & communications technology. He’s the pioneer of Telemedicine and eHealth in Pakistan and has many “Pakistan’s firsts” to his credit in the digital health space. He has mentored many digital health startups, is on the board of international companies, and delivers regular key note invited lectures at global conferences.
